Our Pastor

Pastor Worthen
Pastor M. Merritt Worthen

Rev. M. Merritt Worthen, daughter of Rev. Johnny Merritt and Mrs. Wanda Merritt was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. She spent 10 years in Columbus where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Franklin University, and later earned an M.B.A. from Wright State University. She is married to Reginald Worthen and they have been blessed with three wonderful daughters; Dominique, Indigo, and Brooklyn.

People’s plans are not God’s plans, thus God called Pastor Worthen away from her corporate career to begin serving in ministry.   She earned a Master of Divinity Degree from United Theological Seminary during which time she served as an Associate Pastor for Youth at Grace United Methodist Church and Associate Pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church. The Church affirmed what God had already deemed in her and she was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament shortly following graduation.

She later accepted a position as Director of Student Services at United Theological Seminary where she taught as an Adjunct Instructor and oversaw several academic and student-centered programs. She resigned from this position shortly after being appointed as Senior Pastor of McKinley United Methodist Church where she continues to serve God and his people. The Holy Spirit is at work in this congregation as it moves towards the fulfillment of God’s vision. She believes that God has prepared her over the years for a time such as this. "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him." 1 Cor 2.9

We encourage you to visit McKinley to worship, fellowship and be a part of the incredible ministry God has in mind for all of us!
