Our Pastor

Pastor Worthen 
Pastor M. Merritt Worthen

 
Rev. M. Merritt Worthen, was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. She resided in Columbus where she attended Ohio State University and ultimately graduated with honors from Franklin University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Mgmt. She later earned an MBA from Wright State University. Pastor Worthen worked in various management positions including Acquisitions and Project Management for over 10 years first with Banc One Leasing Corporation (Columbus) and later The Reynolds and Reynolds Co (Dayton). She is married to Reginald Worthen and they have three daughters; Dominique, Indigo, and Brooklyn.
 
Pastor Worthen is an alumna of United Theological Seminary (United) where she earned her Master’s of Divinity Degree. She later joined the staff of United and is currently serving as the Director of Student Services. She oversees the International Student Program, the Intercultural Program, Introduction to Theological Education and manages the Student Services staff and programming. She is also an Adjunct Instructor teaching classes in Christianity and Culture.
 
In previous years she served as an Associate Pastor for Youth at Grace United Methodist church and Associate Pastor at Trinity Presbyterian church. She was appointed as Senior Pastor of McKinley United Methodist Church in July 2010. She believes that God has prepared her over the years for a time such as this and she is excited to be involved in the divine movement and work of God in this congregation. Pastor Worthen continues to accept opportunities to speak to diverse ecumenical and secular groups, focusing on scripture and God’s active work in the world in an effort to reach those inside as well as outside the church walls.
